Closing Up Shop, Forever

Dear Friends and Customers,

If you haven’t heard already, after forty-eight years in business, I am retiring and closing Emmett Eiland’s Oriental Rug Company.

By the end of the year, every Oriental rug in the store must be sold…and so must every artifact that till now has decorated our showroom, mostly antiques I have found during decades of travel: a highly ornate antique sword, for instance; a samovar, a spinning wheel, a gorgeous antique kimono, carved wooden architectural pieces, and on and on.

By December 31st, every rug, carpet and kilim in Emmett Eiland’s showroom must be in your entryway, living room, hallway, or right there by your bedside. Your children could grow up on Oriental Rugs you bought at Emmett Eiland’s Last Sale.

If you do nothing else, come by and say hello…or goodbye.

    As a first time home buyer, finding your shop this year has been amazing. Your team really helped me select two large and beautiful rugs that really tied our house together and made it ours. I was so excited to have found my go to place for rugs and rug cleaning! What am I going to do without you?! Our plan was to get entryway, hall runners and rugs for two bedrooms from you over the next five years! No one compares to your service and quality, I know because I did a lot of shopping around! Congratulations on a long and successful run!

    Dear Emmett, I hope you get this message…I’m sure you have by now heard of Tom Steven’s passing and I am so sad that we never “surprised” you as planned all those years ago. I hope you are well and send warmest greetings…maybe we can still meet when I come in March to visit my sister Deborah…Peace,
